Lower Barn lies on The Atkinson Ground Estate, in the heart of the Lake District, overlooking the northern head of Coniston Water, a huddle of houses and barns set amongst extensive grounds, with views of the nearby lake.
Within the grounds, each property has been allocated private garden areas to relax, barbecue and enjoy superb views of lake and mountain.
From the cottage you have a host of walks to explore; up a mountain, by lake shore or through a mighty woodland, the Grizedale Forest, all this and a cosy cottage to come home to relax in and enjoy.
The village of Coniston lies about a mile and half around the lake, offering shops, cafes and a number of good pubs serving locally brewed ale.
From the village, tracks lead up through the old coppermines valley and to the foot of Coniston Old Man, where the hearty can make an attempt to the 2635 ft summit and view never to be forgotten.
At the boating centre you can hire rowing, sailing and little electric power boats, setting off to explore the shoreline and bays.
Lower Barn
Lower Barn is one of three properties we offer on the Atkinson Ground Estate. The lower level of a barn conversion it lies in an elevated position, above the lake, on the east side of Coniston Water.
The main living area, is open plan. The sitting - dining room is prettily furnished, focused on a log-burning stove and offers some splendid views.
A small step leads up to the kitchen area, well equipped for catering.
From the main area there is a small hall - study room leading to the three bedrooms, one a double with king size bed, one a twin and the last a single.
The main bathroom has bath, washbasin and WC and there is a further separate shower room with WC.
The terraced garden faces west and gives unrivalled views of the lake and the Coniston mountain range. I can think of no finer place to dine and relax against a backdrop of a crimson sun setting over mountain tops - perfect!
