Set in the hamlet of Little Arrow at the foot of the Coniston Old Man, Underwood Cottage, along with the few other nearby houses, all lie just north of Torver, overlooking the west shores of Coniston Water.
Popular as a base for both high and low level walking, there are pathways to The Old Man for a big climb, tracks across Torver Common and paths that lead down to the lake, where you can explore the shore line, swim and boat in summer, or follow the lake shore path to Coniston village.
Torver offers two pubs, the Wilson Arms and Church House, a fine traditional inn, some 600 years old with flagged floors, low ceilings,
roaring log fires and fine beers. Take the path of the old railway line, a pleasent 3/4 mile stroll and you have the Ship Inn
About 1.5 miles north and accessible by road or footpath, is Coniston village. Here you have plenty of local shops, pubs and the Coniston Boating Centre for boat hire.

Recently acquired and beautifully refurbished by owners Helen and Allan, this detached modern property offers a high level of comfort for guests.
Approached by a short private drive, the property is built on one level. You enter into a good sized hallway, ideal for boots and bits.
The sitting room is light and airy, with a dining table to one end and two plump leather sofas drawn around a roaring log stove. From the window the view is filled with meadow, fell and lake.
The Kitchen is very well equipped with all mod cons, perfect to rustle up grand dinners or light lunch.
The three bedrooms are all very well presented, most comfortable, each with en-suite having underfloor heating.
You can choose between the king sized double with its en-suite whirlpool bathroom. The twin room and its en-suite bathroom with overhead shower, or the the second double bedroom with en-suite shower room and little conservatory, perfect for that quiet early morning coffee.
Outside you have private parking and a patio style garden with views down to the lake. In summer the sun shines down in the late afternoon, and will be ideal to relax with a drink or barbecue.
All in all, this is a perfect cottage for families, friends or couples. Your hosts are a delightful couple, offering a warm welcome to their guests where, I am sure, for all who come will leave with very happy memories - perfect!
